Franciscan
Vintage Napa Valley
Rich, Vibrant and silky texture describe the wines of Franciscan embedded in the Napa Valley's Oakville District. At Franciscan all grapes are harvested by hand at night, to protect the fruit and maintain its vibrancy. Each vineyard block is given its own fermentation tank, a luxury usually reserved for only the most expensive wines. Each small lot is carefully crafted at its pace, since there is no need to turn the tanks quickly for another batch. The winery has an unsurpassed level in the expertise of wine blending in the Napa Valley, since it has been handling its lots this way for thirty years. The attention to detail creates a rich and vibrant, yet supple texture for which Franciscan wines are known.

How to Choose Wine Glasses
The shape of the glass is important, as it concentrates the flavor and aroma (or bouquet) to emphasize the varietal's characteristic. One common belief is that the shape of the glass directs the wine itself into the best area of the mouth from the varietal. Generally, the opening of the glass is not wider than the widest part of the bowl. Most wine glasses have stems, which visually, prevent fingerprints from smearing the glass. The stem actually has nothing to do with preventing body heat from warming the wine. A new trend in wine glasses is the "stemless" wine glass which comes in a variety of sizes and shapes as well. These glasses are typically used more casually than their traditional counterparts, as they negate the benefits of using stemmed wine glasses. Except to the wine connoisseur, wine glasses can be divided into three types: red wine glasses, white wine glasses, and champagne flutes. Wine tumblers (without stems) are also increasing in popularity.
